Brief Overview and History of Punchlist Carpentry |
|
Punchlist Carpentry was formed in early 2009 as a means for the owner, Tom Endress, to expand his opportunities in the commercial construction field. Tom was working under general contractors, as an all around carpenter filling in voids left behind by other sub-contractors as they came and went. Tom was on the job from the very start of demolition to the last of the punch-out work before the project was turned over to the clients. It was this very final stage of work from which the company name arose. Learning much from his experience with the broad range of tasks that was require of him to complete, finish carpentry became his passion. Understanding that in order to be a Finish/Trim Carpenter, you have to know much more then just how to install trim work, knowing why certain pieces go certain places allows for a more pleasing and architecturally correct trim out. Tom started researching into the history of architecture and started to learn of why you find certain pieces of architecture in certain areas, the general rules of proportion and the different orders that were put together by the Greeks and Romans. Coupled with an eye for detail and an open mind based on classical rules, Punch List Carpentry expanded officially into the residential Finish Carpentry/Architectural Trim aspect of construction/remodeling. UPDATE: In March of 2012, Tom was contacted by a larger renovation and restoration company out of Hopewell, NJ. Schulte Restorations is now a full time employer of Tom. Working 40 hours a week for Schulte Restorations has downsized Punch List Carpentry into a smaller more specialized outfit. As of Jan 1st 2012, Punch List Carpentry has expanded its personnel. PLC is now co-owned by the founder, Tom Endress and his new business partner, Keith Land. Keith is a very skilled and precise cabinet maker by trade working for Eisenhardt Mills during the week. Keith, coupled together with Tom and the new Punch List Carpentry Shop are now more capable then ever to help you with small to mid sized custom cabinetry and millwork.
